A big well done to all who took part and supported the inaugural Baseball Indoor Cage League. Six teams competed over the 8 weeks. 10 games were played in regular season and play offs took place in a double elimination format. Congratulations to the Comets who won both the regular league pennant (losing only 1 game in the regular reason) and also winning the championship title yesterday in a final vs. the Ashbourne Titans.
The double elimination format made for an exciting finish to the league. In game 1 yesterday, the Comets faced off against the Spartans A team who finished runners up in the regular season. This was a tense affair with no score after 9 innings. In extra innings, Devin Corrihill settlement the matter, in the Comet’s favour, with a walk off double at the bottom of the 10th inning. There was great hitting from the Spartans, particularly from Alan Fox, Frank Andrews and Jimmy Pita.
The Comets then faced off against the Ashbourne Titans in the final. The Titans also had a strong hitting team. After some great batting from both sides the Comets won 3-0. Darry Dolan pitching superbly underarm, for the Comets in both games.
Congratulations again to the Comets and everyone who took part.
